Best-Ever Chicken Swedish Meatballs & Gravy

🍽️ Best-Ever Chicken Swedish Meatballs & Gravy
🧆 Ingredients for the Meatballs:
1 lb ground chicken
1 small onion, finely grated
2 slices soft bread (white or whole wheat), torn into bits
1 egg
2 cloves garlic, minced
¾ tsp salt
½ tsp black pepper
⅛ tsp ground nutmeg
½ tsp allspice (essential for that Swedish flavor!)
2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
Olive oil for pan-frying
🥄 Ingredients for the Gravy:
3 tbsp unsalted butter
3 tbsp all-purpose flour
2 cups chicken broth (low sodium preferred)
½ cup heavy cream
1 tbsp Dijon mustard (optional for tang)
½ tsp soy sauce (adds depth)
⅛ tsp ground nutmeg
Salt & pepper to taste
Fresh parsley for garnish

🔥 How to Make It:
1. Make the Meatballs
In a bowl, mix bread, onion, garlic, egg, and spices.
Add ground chicken and parsley. Mix gently until just combined.
Roll into 1-inch balls (wet hands help!) and brown in a skillet with olive oil until golden. Set aside.
2. Make the Gravy
In the same pan, melt butter and whisk in flour to make a roux.
Slowly add chicken broth, whisking constantly.
Stir in cream, mustard, soy sauce, nutmeg, salt, and pepper.
Simmer until thickened and velvety.
3. Bring It Together
Return meatballs to the pan and simmer in the gravy for 10–15 minutes until cooked through.
Garnish with parsley and serve over egg noodles, mashed potatoes, or even rice.

💫 Pro Tips:
Want extra richness? Add a spoonful of sour cream to the gravy at the end.
For a gluten-free version, swap bread and flour with GF alternatives.
These freeze beautifully—just store meatballs and gravy separately.
