Southern Country Biscuits
Not too thick and very fluffy and soft inside...The kountry Biscuits everyone welcome to the country table on that nice morning rising.
Recipes
2 cups Good Self rising flour ( Make a well inside the mixing bowl)
1 egg ( add the egg)
stick very cold butter ( Chop the cold butter)
3 tablespoonful sour cream ( add the sour cream)
About 1/2 cup sweet milk ( Pour the cold milk little at time)
Blend well very lightly. place on an flour board and pat very lightly spreading out 1 inch.cut the size biscuits you want. grease a pan with cooking oil and place biscuits. in a per heated oven at 450 bake until 10 mins or until golden brown.
Corn Bread Muffins
1 cup corn meal
1 cup flour
2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 package corn bread mix
2 beaten eggs
1 stick of melt butter
1 tablespoon mayonnaise
1/4 oil for mixture
1/4 oil for pan heated
1 1/2 cup whole milk
In bowl add corn meal, flour, baking powder,salt, cornbread mix mixing all together adding milk and eggs blend together. add melted butter and oil stir until nice and smooth add mayonnaise blending in very well. pour in warm muffins pans filled with oil about a tablespoon full bake 425 for 20 min or until golden
HUSH PUPPIES
Hush puppies are a food with a very strong ties to the Southern United
States.The first recorded reference to the word "hush-puppy" dates to
1899. It was feed to dogs often attributed to hunters, fishermen, or
other cooks who would fry some basic cornmeal mixture and feed it to
their dogs to "hush the puppies" during cook-outs or fish-fries.
2 cups self-rising cornmeal
1 cup self-rising flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
3 tablespoons sugar
3 large eggs, lightly beaten
1/2 cup milk
1 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
2 jalapeno peppers, seeded and chopped
1 can (17 ounce size) cream-style corn
1 large onion, chopped
vegetable oil
Combine first 4 ingredients in a large bowl. Combine eggs and milk; add to dry ingredients, stirring just until moistened. Stir in cheese, pepper, corn, and onion (do not over-stir batter).
Pour oil to depth of 2 inches into a small Dutch oven; heat to 375 degrees F.
Carefully drop batter by rounded tablespoons into oil; fry puppies, a few at a time, 3 minutes or until golden brown, turning once.
Hot Water Corn Bread
Ingredients:
1 cup corn oil
1/4 cup melted shortening
3/4 cup boiling water
1 cup cornmeal
1 teaspoon salt
Preparation:
In a heavy iron skillet add oil. Place cornmeal and salt in a bowl. Pour boiling water over meal and salt. Add melted shortening; stir well. When mixture is cool enough to handle, divide into four portions. Shape each into a cornbread cake about 3/4 inch thick. Place corn cakes in skillet fry until golden brown. Hot water cornbread recipe makes 4 cakes, serves 4
